As Dejan Lovren ran to the Kop to celebrate the apogee of the mad, thrilling chaos of Liverpool's bewildering victory against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday, he was joined by virtually the whole squad. Goalkeeping coach John Achterberg ended up near the centre circle clutching a clipboard, and Simon Mignolet rushed from his goal at the Anfield Road end to join in on the celebrations, which was summed up very well by The Anfield Wrap's Martin Fitzgerald:
Emre Can - taken off with an ankle injury sustained in the lead-up to the third goal - also hopped down the touchline to join in the raucous riot, but Liverpool have been hit with a massive blow as that delirious limp down the line may be the German's final involvement with Liverpool this season.
Scans have confirmed that Can suffered an ankle ligament injury when he fell awkwardly in the box just before Mamadou Sakho equalised for Liverpool, and has been ruled out for four to six weeks, meaning he is almost certain to miss the rest of the Premier League season along with the Europa League semi-final against Villarreal.
Liverpool's medical staff are understood to be optimistic that Can will only miss a month of action, meaning he may be fit to play in the Europa League final, should Liverpool sink Villareal's Yellow Submarine, a tie that is said to have satisfied the demands of headline writers everywhere.
The Can blow comes just a week after Jordan Henderson was ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury sustained in the first leg against Dortmund.
Klopp has said that Liverpool will now have to find different solutions, with the return to fitness of Lucas Leiva and the excellent form of Joe Allen bound to give the manager some relief. Can began the second leg against Dortmund slowly, and was suspect for Dortmund's early goals, but he grew into the game along with the rest of his teammates, and as instrumental in setting up Divock Origi for Liverpool's first goal.
Liverpool cannot afford any further injury blows in midfield, with Henderson and can both out, and Kevin Stewart not included in Klopp's European squad.
Even the most illogical European night at Anfield carry their consequences.
