Rarely have ecstasy and agony found residence in such close proximity.
The FAI Intermediate Cup final took place at the Aviva Stadium this afternoon, as Cobh Wanderers took on Liffey Wanderers at Landsdowne. It was a pretty remarkable game, and it finished 2-2 after extra time, with Liffey winning the final 5-4 on penalties.
They had looked set to win it without the need for penalties, having led 2-1 into the final kick of the game in extra time. Remarkably, Cobh then sent the game to penalties with the final act of the game: captain Conor Meade equalised right at the death.
It was his second goal of the game, having equalised with five minutes remaining of normal time too.

Naturally ecstatic, Meade whipped off his shirt in celebration....and was promptly sent-off for a second yellow card.

Without their goalscorer and captain, Cobh lost the shoot-out 5-4, giving Liffey the win. A remarkable rise, considering they won the Junior Cup just two years ago.
We win the FAI Intermediate Cup on penalties. Our lads are legendary
