Liverpool have got their revenge and beaten Real Madrid in the Champions League for the first time since 2009.

Arne Slot's men ran riot in Anfield, overcoming their Spanish opponents 2-0 thanks to second-half goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo.

While Mac Allister and Gakpo got Liverpool over the line, it was their two Irish stars who delivered standout performances, keeping Real Madrid talisman Kylian Mbappé at bay throughout.

Cork's Caoimhin Kelleher delivered one of the moments of the game when Kylian Mbappé was awarded a penalty and a chance to level the game as the clock struck sixty. Kelleher however had different ideas, delivering his third penalty save in two weeks to deny Mbappé.

While Kelleher denied Mbappé once, Tyrone man Conor Bradley kept the Real Madrid man at bay for the entirety of his performance, landing a world-class tackle on Mbappé in the opening half, and bagging an assist of his own for Mac Allister's goal, in what was an outstanding performance.

Liverpool fans all saying the same thing about Conor Bradley

While Conor Bradley did a superb job deputising for Trent Alexander-Arnold, the latter's absence has done very little to quell the rumours that the Liverpool and England right-back is planning a move to Real Madrid when his contract runs out this summer.

However, the irony of second-choice Bradley delivering an emphatic performance against the team Liverpool's first-choice right-back Alexander-Arnold is reportedly concocting a move to, proved too much for plenty of Liverpool fans who joked that Real Madrid will be more interested in signing Bradley than Trent.

On a night where he recorded one assist, four tackles, eight duals won and nine possessions won, Conor Bradley well and truly earned the plaudits of his fanbase.

The only downside came in the 87th minute when Bradley left the field of play with a hamstring injury.

Although that will end even the slimmest of hopes of immediate game-time for the Tyrone man, if reports of Alexander-Arnold's move to Madrid are true, tonight's performance will have gone a long way in Bradley's bid to be his replacement.
