Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos has elevated himself to the status of national hero after declaring tomorrow a public holiday ahead of Colombia's clash with Brazil.
From 1 pm tomorrow, Colombians will be free to leave the workplace in order to support the national side in their World Cup Quarter final match against the host nation. El Presidente called for his countrymen to enjoy the festivities safely.
"I tell you already you need to celebrate calmly and in peace.”
His plea for peace comes after at least 10 people died when celebrations across the country turned into riots following Colombia's World Cup opening victory against Greece.
Santos' peacekeeping tactic is one of the most progressive methods for maintaining public order we've seen in years. Take note, UN.
