The LA Galaxy are in Dublin for a pre-season training trip and Robbie Keane answered a couple of questions about the future of one Kevin Doyle, a man Keane formed a productive partnership with at international level once upon a time.
Doyle is heavily linked with Colorado Rapids in the MLS and who better than the current MLS All Star to ask about the Wexford man's possible American adventure? Keane confirmed that Rapids coach Pablo Mastroeni had given him a call about Doyle and as you'd expect, Robbie was fulsome in his praise:
“I got a call from the Rapids manager, Pablo I used to play with him at Galaxy, so he asked me about Kevin. I highly recommended Kevin to him.
“He would certainly do well over there. If he goes over there, it will be great for him. It will be great for the league, great for him, and I told Pablo that you could not wish to have a better person. He’s a great guy off the pitch, works hard, works his socks off on the pitch, and is a handful. Kevin scores goals, so he would be perfect for them. If he goes to MLS I will be delighted to have him over there.”
Here's hoping any possible move will work out for Doyle who's career has stalled in the last few years.
