Collymore: 'John Henry Has Tried To Sack Brendan Rodgers A Couple Of Times'

It's hard to tell how much insider knowledge Stan Collymore has at Liverpool. The club's former striker isn't exactly held in great esteem at Anfield or at most grounds in all honesty, however, since the end of his playing career he has carved out a pretty decent career in the media for himself so it would be wrong to completely dismiss everything he has to say.

As such, his column in Bleacher Report this week contains an potentially interesting little nugget regarding Liverpool owner John W. Henry and his seemingly exhausted patience for Brendan Rodgers and his methods.

I heard two weeks ago that John Henry has tried to sack Brendan Rodgers a couple of times already. He was persuaded not to by Ian Ayre and a couple of club legends, who were sought out for their counsel.

If that is true you have to think the writing is on the wall for Rodgers. Being on the same cloak and daggers style transfer committee that Rodgers is on, Ian Ayre is hardly the sturdiest confidence vote. Although he expressed a view that Henry should wait until the end of the season to decide, it is said transfer committee's dealings that could see Rodgers out the door sooner rather than later according to Collymore.

Adam Lallana has been no better than a six out of 10, Mario Balotelli a five, Rickie Lambert five, Lazar Markovic five. It's been the stuff of nightmares for Rodgers.
