Kevin Kilbane's status as a great servant to Irish football was never in doubt. With 110 caps, he's currently the third most-capped Irish international of all time, though John O'Shea will likely pass him out at Euro 2016.

Kilbane's commitment to Irish football went deeper than the numbers tell.

Off the pitch, he was also a great teammate - and roommate.

On RTÉ's Euro 2016 highlights show this evening, guest Clinton Morrison recounted his experience of Kilbane during his time as an Irish international.

Though there are only two years between them in age - Morrison is 37 and Kilbane 39 - Morrison still viewed Kilbane as a 'father figure'. That probably had something to do with Kilbane already having four years under his belt at international level when Morrison made his debut for Ireland.

What made Kilbane such a great roommate? Well, number one, for Morrison, was Kilbane running a bath for him - set at just the right temperature - along with making the tea every night before they hit the hay.

When I first came in I was with Steven Reid, he was really good. Then I was with Lee Carsley, he was really good.

Then the last one I was with was even better because he used to run me a bath and set it at the right temperature, and have my tea ready before we went to bed. Then I also had to say good night to him before I went to bed - that was the legend that is Kevin Kilbane.

So he was probably the best roommate that I've ever had.

We got on ever so well and he looked after me. I was a young guy, he was like that father figure and he looked after me. When I was misbehaving he put me on the straight and narrow.

Presumably Kilbane was in high demand as a roommate.
