For all intents and purposes it appears like Mourinho's third season meltdown is incoming, with the Portugese manager unhappy with the club's transfer dealings and questioning the attitude of his players in preseason.
All of his grumbling has left a cloud over Manchester United heading into the new season, but Clinton Morrison thinks that the 55-year-old is playing a double bluff with his public bellyaching.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Morrison argued that the way he presents himself in the media could be wholly different from his demeanour with his players:
He might be so frustrated with the media but in the changing room he might be saying something totally different to his players.
As Lee Grant said, and I know Granty, he would be telling the truth, it looks like from the outside it is not a happy camp but from the inside it might be a very happy camp.
He's been very frustrated, Jose Mourinho. Over the last few years, it has gotten worse and worse. He looks like he hardly wants to speak to the media.
Morrison went on to argue that United currently have a decent squad bar some defensive frailties, stating that Pep Guardiola would have won the league last season with the talent at Mourinho's disposal:
They have got talented players at Manchester United, do not forget that. Paul Pogba was outstanding at the World Cup, so was Romelu Lukaku. Jesse Lingard had a very good World Cup as well.
Alexis Sanchez has had six months now to adjust at United, they have Marcus Rashford too. The list goes on and on.
They have got a really good team. Maybe in one or two areas defensively they would like to strengthen but their squad is really good. As I said last season, I think if Pep Guardiola was managing that team they would have won the title.
Man United kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Leicester on the 10th of August, with Mourinho himself saying that there will be at least one incoming transfer done before the window closes on August 9th.
