While Neymar was making his debut for PSG against a shambolic set of lads called Guingamp, his old teammates were hosting Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.
While Neymar leaving Barca for more than €200 million represents a new age, some things remain the same: the game was dominated by Cristiano Ronaldo.
In a remarkable cameo, Ronaldo came off the bench to score a screamer, only to return to the bench having picked up a couple of yellow cards: one for whipping off his top in celebration, the other for diving in the penalty area. He could now face a Diarmuid Connolly-style 12-match suspension for shoving the referee in the back upon the brandishing of the red card.
But Ronaldo's star turn should not detract from the main headlines: the kit choice was an abomination.
For reasons presumably commercial, Madrid elected to wear their third kit - a blue number - which clashed horribly with Barcelona's home kit.
Viewers were naturally appalled:
The kits in El Clasico really don't make much sense. 🤔 pic.twitter.com/FsKb3CtR0K

Am I going blind or is there a major colour clash with the Barcelona and Real Madrid kits?

Who would've thought the biggest El Clasico clash in history would be between their two kits?

100% be quitting this game and selecting different kits if this was Fifa #ElClasico

We don't think that it's being overly dramatic to say that this is a disgrace.
