Christian Fuchs Reveals What He Said To Eden Hazard After He Won Leicester The League

Leicester City full-back Christian Fuchs has earned himself a lot of fans since moving from Schalke in the summer of 2015, and he's managed to pick up a Premier League winner's medal in the process.

By embracing the influence social media plays on football as well as the fact that his surname sounds like a swearword he has emerged as one of the funnier characters in football, and someone who is far more than the public's perception of a modern footballer.

That's why we were so happy to see him submit an article to The Player's Tribune, a site that features articles written by some of the biggest athletes on the planet to give their side of things.

It speaks volumes as to how big Leicester's title win was that the predominantly American site would feature an Austrian fullback playing in the Premier League, but Fuchs did not disappoint and we've picked out a few of our favourite lines from the piece.

We've all know about the party Jamie Vardy hosted that night, but Fuchs gives us a look into how it actually felt to be there.

When I was leaving my house to go to the party, I turned to my wife in the kitchen and said.…

(I’m getting goose bumps just remembering it.)

I turned to my wife and said, “I’ll be coming home tonight as a Premier League champion.”

My prediction didn’t seem so smart for most of the night. Tottenham scored early in the match and then scored again before halftime to make it 2–0. It was hilarious, because at halftime, you had 22 lads standing around Jamie Vardy’s kitchen, with all his big candles and nice things, eating snacks and drinking, and everybody was completely depressed. Even Shinji Okazaki. And he is always smiling, even when he’s crying. Even poor Shinji was sad.

Then Gary Cahill scored for Chelsea to make it 2–1. Gary, you beautiful man.

I was screaming, “COME ON, LADS! COME ON, CHELSEA!”

I kept screaming for 20 more minutes. The boys were going crazy.

Then in the 83rd minute … Eden Hazard.

Eden Hazard: Wow. Thank you, man.

I’ve been watching football since I was six years old. I have never seen a more beautiful goal. When Hazard curled that ball into the top right corner, I couldn’t believe it. It was an impossible strike.

It hit the back of the net and … woof. Everybody went crazy. People were jumping up and down, plates of food went flying, drinks were spilled.

Now Jamie Vardy was really having a party.

(Two weeks later, when we played Chelsea in the final match of the season, I walked up to Hazard after the final whistle and said, “May I kiss your feet, sir?” He laughed.)

You would fully believe that he did say that to Hazard as well, he's a great character.

Fuchs also goes into detail on his background in Austria, explaining that he studied economics until the age of 21 as it was simply the done thing in his homeland, as well as having a war of words with his childhood hero who later became a teammate.
