Christian Benteke has had his move to Crystal Palace confirmed today, as the club rolled out their omnipotent social media machine using #WelcomeChristian, something that the Jehovah Witness section of our readership base are unfamiliar with hearing.

Benteke realised that he should hold up his end of the bargain on social media, and respond. Sadly - like any good Christian - it seems Benteke has just too much trust: in this case regarding the person who operates his twitter account. His twitter bio was updated to reflect his big move, and not only did it get the name of his new club wrong, he didn't even spell said club correctly.

Benteke then tweeted an apology himself:
Oops my bad lol Yes I signed for cpfc and not burnley. Sorry for the little mistake the person that manages my Twitter got a little confused

His old club Liverpool are playing Burnley later today, perhaps that led to the confusion. It is a further blow to those people who wish to believe that footballers run their own account, the previous blow involving an absurd mix-up between Mesut Ozil and Ilkay Gundogan.
The fact that Benteke doesn't send his own tweets rather devalues this heartfelt farewell message to Liverpool:

Benteke, who spent much of last season looking like the least offensive Christian since Mother Theresa, will likely prove to be a very good signing for a Palace side in desperate need of some goals. It also heartening that Alan 'Pards' Pardew can show such remarkable powers of forgiveness: last season he called Benteke a "cheat" as he won and converted a last-gasp penalty in Liverpool's 2-1 win at Selhurst Park.
