It is set to be a busy January for Chris Wilder's Sheffield United as the English manager confirmed they are set to offer Jack Rodwell a short-term contract while Billy Sharp has been linked with a move.
Wilder watched his side lose 2-0 to Premier League leaders Liverpool on Thursday night and confirmed on Friday morning that they had offered Rodwell, who has been training with the club recently, a contract until May.
"We’re hoping to get that one over the line this morning. It’ll be a short team deal until the end of the season with the option of extending that."
On the other end, a lack of playing time has seen Billy Sharp linked with a move away with the Guardian reporting that Celtic have expressed interest in the striker. When quizzed on the speculation earlier in the week, Wilder dismissed reports.
"He doesn’t want to go anywhere, I don’t want him to go anywhere. So, as far as I’m concerned, that’s the end of the conversation with him.”
The Guardian also report that another target for the club is Irish international Darragh Lenihan. The Blackburn defender has been a target for Wilder since 2017 according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
The 25-year old has been a consistent presence for the Championship in recent seasons having joined in 2012 from Belvedere.
