Chris Sutton has enjoyed a meteoric punditry rise this season, ascending the outer edges of the TV Schedules - BT Sport 2 - t the bright lights of Match of the Day.
He's done so partly by calling it as it is, but mainly by being a bit of a wind-up merchant. Especially on BT, Sutton has exulted in wading into a debate, pulling the pin, and standing back to observe the carnage.
He has turned it into a kind of artform, with a regular target of his ire his fellow pundit Stephen Craigan. Sutton does not deliver the nuanced breakdown that is favoured by the Monday Night Football gang. Instead, he forms an opinion, will disapprove of conflicting opinions and will defend to death the right he has to say so.
Sutton has been extremely critical of Rangers' manager Mark Warburton on BT all season, but last night, he couldn't wait to go on air.
As it emerged last night that Warburton had left Ibrox - it has since descended to an utterly farcical situation in which Warburton is unaware he has resigned - Sutton took to Twitter to dance on Warburton's grave.
It is mightily entertaining, in fairness.
