With John Hartson and Kenny Miller in studio, and Chris Sutton on co-commentary, BT Sport brought together this myriad of former Celtic players for what amounted to another disappointing European night for Brendan Rodgers' side.
However, while Hartson and Miller escaped largely unscathed, it was Sutton who came in for the brunt of the criticism from the Celtic faithful watching on.
Losing 2-0 to the German outfit, it marked Celtic's second successive defeat in the tournament. Going down 3-1 to RB Salzburg in the previous round, Rodgers will take some solace from the fact that both defeats came away from home.
With two games at Park Head to turn their Europa League fate around, Chris Sutton was nevertheless left unimpressed by the apparent reluctance of Celtic's players to make something happen for themselves on a largely frustrating night.
Repeatedly criticising the attitudes of the players, as well as Rodgers himself when the Northern Irishman opted to replace the injured Jozo Simunovic with Jack Hendry - a like-for-like defensive swap that left Sutton certain Celtic were content to take what they had.
Disheartened with the former Celtic man's assessment of the situation, the club's fans vented their frustration with him in their droves.
Sutton is in full on moaning mode tonight. Not offering much constructive criticism right enough.

Sutton doesn't half whinge on commentary!

Every time you hear Chris Sutton whine on about players being brave/stepping up etc., you should remember he got himself deliberately sent off in a match in which we needed him.

Fuck off Sutton, give it a rest....

Chris Sutton loves a good ‘step up’ like

Yup, the same Chris Sutton who got himself sent off against Sevco cos he’d had enough for one day

Incredibly, many fans felt the need to point out some of the poor Europeans nights Celtic had when Sutton played for the club.
Given that team went as far as the UEFA Cup final in 2003, this seemed something of a stretch.
I like Sutton but he’s going on about another poor away European performance(rightly so) but ge forgets he was part of some awful away displays aswell for Celtic

I like Chris Sutton but some of his stuff is extremely frustrating to listen to asking us to compete but we know our failings and injuries etc but does he forget the amount of time we watched his team fail away from home in Europe @chris_sutton73 , with probably a better team

Some fans were more forgiving to Sutton's take on another poor night for Celtic however.
Big sutton can go on a bit at times agreed but do we want him to go on like Derek "cheerleader" Johnstone and sugar coat everything?
It's just not good enough once again!— Malky (@malky_) October 25, 2018
Sutton's fucking bang on, feel sorry for the fans who have spent money to travel to Germany....and then see that line up 👎

Chris Sutton says the same thing about Scotty Sinclair every time ( to be fair, he’s right)

For Celtic, attention will now turn toward Sunday's League Cup semi-final tie against Hearts.
