Chris Sutton has burst upon the English punditry scene this season, dropping truth-shaped bombs with wry indifference. He has risen from the Western edges of the TV schedule - Scottish football on BT Sport 2 - to the very top, and made his Match of the Day debut alongside Lineker and Shearer last Saturday night.
He was disappointingly restrained on that occasion, but he was at his assured best on BT last night, as he appeared on the panel overseeing Celtic's 4-1 over Partick Thistle.
The show ended with a bizarre - and trippy - ode to Celtic's Christmas message, and was edified by a shouting match between Sutton and Stephen Craigan.
They were debating the appointment of Ian Cathro as the new Head Coach at Hearts: a decision that has caused consternation given that Cathro was never a professional footballer. Craigan took the John Giles role of singing the praises of the "Football Man", with Sutton fully supportive of Cathro.
There's fantastic needle in this clip, particularly in Sutton's calling his colleague by his surname.
We are all Alan Stubbs here.
