Former QPR and Blackburn defender Christopher Samba has been banned for two matches after reacting to racist abuse while playing for Dynamo Moscow. The abuse took place last Sunday during the first half of Dynamo's away game with Torpedo Moscow.
Gennady Soloviev, Dynamo's vice-president revealed that such was the extent of the abuse from the Torpedo fans, Samba had to be substituted at half time.
Samba felt offended with Torpedo fans and didn't want to go on the pitch for the second half. That's why he was replaced.
Earlier in the week, Torpedo were sanctioned by the Russian Football Union in relation to the matter and must close section of their stadium for their next home game.
However, news has now emerged that Samba is also in line for a ban after displaying an 'unpleasant gesture' in response to the abuse. Samba went before a disciplinary committee this weekend and the Russian Football Union have decided that his actions warrant a two match ban.
Artur Grigoryants of the RFU disciplinary panel confirmed the decision in a brief statement after the hearing at which Samba was in attendance and apologised for the reaction.
According to the Premier League regulations Samba will have to miss Dynamo's two next matches with Kuban Krasnodar and Amkar Perm.
