Chiedozie Ogbene is having himself quite the start to the season.
Heading into this afternoon's game against Reading, the Ireland international had scored in each of his two appearances this season. He got Rotherham United's only goal of the game in the draw against Swansea City in the Championship owner, while he would also net against Port Vale in the League Cup.
It was an ideal way to get his campaign underway.
Chiedozie Ogbene scores excellent goal against Reading
With their league game against Coventry City called off last weekend, hopes were high that the club would register their first victory since their return to the Championship at home against Reading this afternoon.
They would have little trouble doing so, running out as 4-0 winners after scoring all four goals before the interval.
Chiedozie Ogbene would get the fourth, showing what he was all about in the process.
The Cork native displayed his blistering pace by getting in behind, where he was picked out by an excellent long ball. With the opposition goalkeeper rushing out of his goal, the winger would show an excellent touch to round him and thump the ball into the net to avoid the retreating defender.
While questions will be asked about the goalkeeper, Ogbene still had plenty to do in order to get his goal.
This is just the latest example of the player's fine run of form, who has been strongly linked with a move away from the club this summer. Swansea City were said to be keen to bring him to Wales, with the winger seeming to be open to a new challenge.
However, a deal has yet to materialise and now looks increasingly unlikely after the campaign kicked off.
Regardless of where Chiedozie Ogbene is playing his football this season, he looks set to have a stellar season for both club and country.
