Javier Hernandez became Mexico's all-time top scorer when he grabbed a late consolation goal for his side against Croatia on Saturday night.
Mexico were 2-0 down at the LA Coliseum against the Croatians when Chicharito headed home in the 87th minute from Andres Guardado's free kick. He had entered the game 20 minutes earlier as a replacement for Oribe Peralta.
It was the 28-year-old's 47th international goal and it moved him one ahead of Jared Borgetti. Hernandez has 91 caps for Mexico, while Borghetti hit the 46-goal mark in 89 appearances.
Since leaving Man Utd in 2015, Hernandez has a prolific time in front of goal for Bayer Leverkusen, hitting the back of the net 39 times.
On Thursday night, an inexperienced Ireland side will face up against Chicharito and Co. at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
