Chelsea and Man City played out a Premier League classic at Stamford Bridge this evening, with the game finishing in a fitting 4-4 draw.

City opened the scoring with a standard penalty from Erling Haaland, after the striker was dragged down by Marc Cucurella.

Thiago Silva equalised with a header, and Raheem Sterling put Chelsea ahead against his old side with a tap-in, before Manuel Akanji levelled things up with a header of his own in first-half injury time.

The game's frenetic pace continued in the second-half, with Haaland tapping in from close range, just 90 seconds after the whistle.

The in-form Nicolas Jackson made it 3-3 in the 67th minute, but Rodri managed to grab what appeared to be a winner in the 86th minute, when his shot from outside the box took a lucky deflection off Silva's outstretched foot.

However, the 21-year-old Cole Palmer, who moved from Man City in September, had the final say when he slotted an unstoppable 95th minute penalty into the top corner, after Ruben Dias had taken out Armando Broja in the box.

After the game, Jamie Carragher was full of praise for Chelsea manger Mauricio Pochettino, and in particular his record in big games this season.

I think what Pochettino has done in big games has been fantastic. I think you can almost see him as a manager going up against Klopp, Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, and he hasn't quite got the tools that they've got.

I know they've spent a load of money, people will say that......And when you look at the team on paper, the setup, it's still short of what the other top teams have got. But what they've done in big game I think is a real feather in their cap.

His Sky Sports colleague, Micah Richards, concurred and pointed out the improvement in Chelsea's finishing ability in their last couple of matches:

"I love watching them..... normally when managers come in it takes them six months, a year, to stamp their authority and what they want to do.

"I can see what Chelsea are trying to do with the fullbacks and the midfield rotation, the way they want to press from the front.

"And Chelsea have actually played well this season, but they've not finished off the chances. The difference now is, against Spurs, against today, they've finished off their chances, simple as that."
