18 years old, and the subject of a power struggle between two of the world's biggest clubs. Callum Hudson-Odoi may never have it this good again.

The fledgling winger has been courted quite openly by Bayern Munich this transfer window, but it now seems that the Blues are intent on fighting for their man.

According to the BBC, Chelsea have opened contract negotiations with the teenager and figures of up to £70,000 a week are reported to be on the table. The joys of having the five time European Cup winners as leverage, eh?

Bayern were knocked back by the West Londoners, and accused of a lack of professionalism by manager Maurizio Sarri, when they lodged a £35 million bid for the English youth international, last week.

The Bavarian giants see Hudson-Odoi as having the potential to emulate fellow English starlet Jadon Sancho - who has taken the Bundesliga by storm following his £5 million summer move from Manchester City to Borussia Dortmund.

Hudson-Odoi has made 13 senior appearances for Sarri this season, and the Italian has stated his intention to hold on to the academy product. Speaking at today's press conference, ahead of tomorrow's cross-town derby with Arsenal at the Emirates, Sarri exclaimed, "I'm very happy with [Hudson-Odoi]".

I think he is in a positive moment, also mentally, for the attitude and the way he is training.

The King's Road side travel to North London hoping to leap frog Tottenham into third, with Spurs not set to play Fulham until Sunday. The Gunners on the other hand are hoping to arrest an alarming run of form, that most recently saw them put in a ominously limp performance in defeat against West Ham at the London Stadium last week.

Sarri may well be tempted to go with Hudson-Odoi on Saturday evening, in a bid to coax him into staying at Stamford Bridge. Despite shining in the domestic cups this season, he has yet to feature from the start in the Premier League.
