The John Stones to Chelsea transfer saga, also known as Roberto Martinez's annual month of complaining to the media about clubs unsettling his players while continuing to unsettle his own transfer targets, may soon be over.

While Chelsea had reportedly been trying to lure Stones to Stamford Bridge in this Summer Transfer window with marginally increasing bids, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Mazio, who has been on the money with a good few transfers this summer such as Matteo Darmian to Man United, is claming that the club have turned their attentions to Zenit and Argentina defender Ezequiel Garay.

The above tweet states that negotiations have begun if you don't speak Italian.

Garay had previously been believed to have been a target for Manchester United under David Moyes, but surprised everyone when he left Porto to join Zenit St.Petersburg, where he help his new club to the league title.

The continuing speculation about the future of John Terry will have been amplified by the Chelsea captain's red card against West Brom, and it looks as though Jose Mourinho is eager to bring in someone to compete for a starting place alongside either Kurt Zouma or Gary Cahill.

No fee has been mentioned yet, and Zenit don't exactly need the cash, so Chelsea will have to pay up if they want to bring the Argentinian to the club before the window closes.
