In the build up of BT Sport's coverage of tonight's Champions League semi-final between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, the topics of Zeljko Buvac's absence of leave from Liverpool as well as Steven Gerrard's rumoured talks with Rangers were discussed.

Gerrard addressed the reports linking him with Ibrox, confirming that he has held talks with the club. The subject then moved to Liverpool assistant coach Buvac who is on leave from the club for an unspecified reason.

There have been some reports linking the Serbian to the Arsenal job which Rio Ferdinand addressed saying that Buvac's absence must be due to personal reasons. But Gary Lineker couldn't resist having a little dig at Gerrard, using the Arsenal Buvac rumour to highlight his lack of management experience:

...If Arsenal are looking at him (Buvac), what big club would ever take on a man with no experience?

Both Frank Lampard and Ferdinand saw the funny side of it and to be fair Gerrard took the joke in good spirit:

But however in jest Lineker's statement was, Twitter user Martetti made a valid point about hiring ex-Liverpool captains with no managerial experience:
