Legends game are always good fun. Seeing some big names from years gone by pull on a jersey once against is sure to bring about a certain level of nostalgia, even if the ex-footballers are no longer at their physical peak.

We saw one such fixture this afternoon, with Liverpool taking on Celtic at Anfield.

Of course, the term 'legend' can be applied somewhat loosely on occasions such as this one. There were some genuine club heroes on show for both sides, with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Sami Hyypia, Stylian Petrov, and Artur Boruc among those that featured.

In saying that, there were also some less stellar names on show. Charlie Adam falls into that category, having had only one hugely underwhelming season at Liverpool before being moved on. With that in mind, the Scot probably isn't the most popular figure at Anfield.

The same can be said of his reputation at Celtic. Not only did Adam start his career at Rangers, but he has also annoyed quite a few Hoops supporters with his comments about the club in the media in recent years.

Both he and former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard were booed by the away fans at the start of the game, although they were given something to shout about soon after.

In only the fifth minute of the match, Celtic's Ross Wallace absolutely cleaned out Charlie Adam with a slide tackle, much to the delight of the Celtic fans.

He went down like a sack of spuds.

At 37-years old, Charlie Adam was still playing in the Scottish top flight last season, retiring at the end of the campaign after a two-year stint with Dundee.

Considering he was among the youngest players on the pitch, some viewers were surprised by his level of conditioning.

It wasn't all good news for Celtic fans, however.

Steven Gerrard would give Liverpool the lead in the first half, managing to wind up the away end with his celebrations in the process.

Feisty stuff.

Who ever said that legends games don't matter?
