Aiden McGeady is set to be offered an escape route from relegated Sunderland, with Bristol City preparing an offer for the Irish winger.
McGeady only joined the club last summer in a £250,000 deal from Preston North End, but the 32-year-old is reported to be a top target for Bristol City boss Lee Johnson. According to the Chronicle, the Robins are in the market for a winger and were linked to Aston Villa's Albert Adomah earlier this summer.
The former Spartak Moscow Celtic and Everton man scored seven goals last season but couldn't stop Sunderland's inevitable relegation as the club fell to the bottom of the table with only seven wins.
He does have a year left on his current deal at the Stadium of Light but Sunderland chairman Stewart Donald confirmed on Twitter last week there would be lots of change in the coming transfer window.
Facts are there are very very few players who have indicated they wish to stay with the club next season. So it is fair to expect a lot of comings and goings in the next few weeks. We do not need to sell any player who shows a desire to stay - but there aren't many of those!
Bristol City finished 11th last season, eight points off the playoffs.
