This live blog is going to leave it there for tonight. That second half was relentless but if there are any goals from the night that we've missed. we'll soon have the best of them on the Balls homepage in our Champions League round up.
Thanks for reading, goodnight.

As mentioned, there has been a huge turnaround at Stamford Bridge with Basel 2-1 up. Here's the goal from Salah that made it 1-1. And all on the anniversary of the infamous home draw with Rosenberg.
21:34
Here's how Messi completed his hattrick. Anthing Ronaldo can do...
21:27
The goals are flying in like I said, Schalke are 2 up on Steaua, Porto are 1-0 up in Vienna, Chelsea are trailing 2-1 all of a sudden, Barca are now 4 ahead, Arsenal are 2 up, Atletico are back in front, Milan have gone ahead and since writing this paragraph Atleti and Schalke have scored again. The best of the goals to come...
21:25
Lorenzo Isigne has doubled Napoli's lead at an absolutely rocking San Paolo with an amazing free kick.
21:21
Walcott put Arsenal ahead a few minutes ago somewhat against the run of play.

For the most part the second halves are under way. We have eight tight games compared to yesterday, all of which are still up in the air. So far not much is happening in Milan or Marseille, and Chelsea's midfielders have been getting in each others way despite their one-nil lead.
20:42
Only four goals from the eight games, which is quite tame compared to yesterday's efforts. The scores are thus far...
Chelsea 1-0 Basel (Oscar)
Schalke 0-o Steaua
Marseille 0-0 Arsenal
Napoli 1-0 Dortmund (Higuain; klopp and Weidenfeller sent off)
Atletico 1-0 Zenit (Miranda)
Austria Wien 0-0 Porto
Milan 0-0 Celtic
Barcelona 1-0 Ajax (Messi)
20:38
In the final action from the first half, Roman Weidenfeller has been sent off for Dortmund. Things going from bad to worse for the Bundesliga leaders. Looks like the captain handled it.

Here's the goal from Oscar that has Chelsea ahead of Basel at half time. A rare moment of class in a dire first half according to French sage Phillipe Auclair

20:30
Miranda scores a replica of his goal in the Copa Del Rey final against Real Madrid as he puts Atletico 1-0 up on Zenit.

20:24
And here is the header from Higuain that has put Napoli ahead. Klopp lost the head because this goal was scored while Subotic was off the pitch waiting to get back on.

20:21
I think it's safe to say that Jurgen Klopp lost his cool here a little bit.

20:19
It's all going off in Naples. Gonzalo Higuain has put Napoli ahead and Jurgen Klopp has been sent off for Dortmund.
20:16
And in gif form, Messi is only 12 goals away from overtaking Raul's record of 71 Champions League goals. Messi's only played 80 games!
20:13
Leo Messi just scored his 60th Champions League goal

20:04
Celtic just had a free kick in the Milan penalty area, due to a supposed back pass. It's a rarely seen sight these days and surely one of the little pleasures of the game.
20:02
Not much happening around Europe so far. The most noteworthy aspect to events so far is the presence of Bojan Krkic in the Ajax team, who is on loan from Barcelona.

19:40
It will be tough to top the 30 goals we saw last night but there are plenty of subplots to all of tonight's games.
In Group A, Chelsea and Basel play out a repeat of last season's Europa League semi final, in which the Swiss team froze. In Group D, Barcelona and Ajax play a European fixture for the first time ever, which is an unbelievable statistic, and Celtic visit Milan for the third time in the last ten years. In Group C, Austria Wien play their first ever Champions League game in what should be a close group, and in Group B, Arsenal need to get of to a good start, one feels, if they are to see off Napoli, Marseille and Dortmund to reach the second round.
19:36
Tonight's games in the Champions league come from Group's E through H, which feature, amongst other, Chelsea, Arsenal and Celtic.
Here are all of tonight's fixtures.
Group A
Chelsea v Basel
Schalke v Steaua Bucharest
Group B
Marseille v Arsenal
Napoli v Dortmund
Group C
Austria Wien v Porto
Atletico Madrid v Zenit
Group D
Milan v Celtic
