Following the loan signing of PSG forward Timothy Weah and West Brom's Oliver Burke, Brendan Rodgers has bolstered his attack further with the capture of Bayo.

The full statement on Celtic's website reads as follows:

Celtic are delighted to announce the signing of Vakoun Issouf Bayo, who has joined the club on a four-year deal from Slovakian side, Dunajská Streda. The deal is subject to a work permit and a medical.

The 21-year-old Ivory Coast forward joined Dunajská Streda in March last year, having previously spent two years playing in Tunisia.

And the highly-rated striker has been in exceptional form since moving to Slovakia, scoring 18 goals in 23 games this season, as well as seven assists, helping his team into second place in the top division.

Now, Vakoun will be targeting goals in the green and white Hoops. Everyone at the club welcomes him to Celtic and wishes him every success here.

Chris Sutton had speculated on Celtic's interest in the forward in the lead up to the deal in his column in the Daily Record, and isn't convinced that Bayo is the kind of signing his former club should be making:

Celtic are chasing Vakoun Issouf Bayo but it’s hardly an inspiring target.

Even his own manager at Dunajska Streda says he’s a raw prospect with a dodgy first touch and a struggle with tap-ins.
