In the same week where we got confirmation of Manchester United and Liverpool returning to Irish shores for friendlies, another big friendly match has been announced for Dublin.
Brendan Rodgers will bring his treble winning Celtic side to Tallaght Stadium to play Shamrock Rovers on July 8th.
The Hoops had an invincible season in Scotland and will come to Dublin as part of their summer preparations for next year's Champions League qualifiers.
Rovers will be in European action on July 6th. They will play the second leg of the first qualifying round of the Europa League on that day.
Celtic last played on these shores last year when they faced Inter Milan at Thomond Park in the International Champions Cup.
Speaking to the club's official website, Rodgers seemed excited about the friendly:
We’re looking forward to going over and taking Celtic to our great supporters in Ireland and it’s a good point in the season to get some pre season sharpness
We’ll have a strong team there, we are not sending a Celtic XI or a reserve team, we are bringing the strongest squad that we have. It will be all the first team squad, players and management
