Famed darts pundit Wayne Mardle felt the ire of Scottish football fans yesterday after giving a rather over-the-top answer to a question about Celtic and Rangers.

Wayne Mardle In Hot Water After Celtic Vs Rangers Question

The Sky Sports darts man was asked on Twitter “Celtic or Rangers Wayne?”, but instead of giving an answer to the question he replied with an expletive laden rant on the the state of the Scottish Premiership:

I’ve absolutely no interest in sub-standard amateur football. It’s absolute p***.

To be fair it’s more the league we play in that’s the problem, certainly in the case of Celtic.

If we played in the Premier League, within a few years - if we spent the right money - we would be a top ten team who would be pushing for top six.

Fans tried to reason with the former darts player, explaining that "to be fair it’s more the league we play in that’s the problem, certainly in the case of Celtic.

However, Mardle doubled down on his views and went even harder in his take on Scottish football.

I literally couldn’t care less. You don’t have to explain why the league is so s***.

It’s always been s*** and will forever be s***. It’s s***. Get over how sh** it really is.

"I genuinely didn’t mean to cause offence but understand I may have done so, and for that, I apologise."
