Rangers Fans Are Disgusted By The Idea Of Giving Celtic Guard Of Honour At Ibrox

Celtic will face Rangers for the second time in a week on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Ibrox for a league clash, their fourth and final of the 2016/17 season.

Brendan Rodgers' men won the cup semi final at Hampden Park at the weekend, and claimed wins in two of the three league games this season with the other being a draw, as well a League Cup semi-final win in October, so Rangers will be desperate to claim a win if they weren't already in order to keep up the chase on Aberdeen for second place.

Celtic wrapped up the league title last month, and have been receiving the 'guard of honour' from clubs since confirming the achievement, such as Partick Thistle:

But with a trip to Ibrox coming up this weekend, they can not expect the same show of respect from Rangers.

Scottish website TalkingBaws.com spotted Rangers fans' reaction to a rumour that circled on social media that the player would indeed be standing and applauding the Celtic players onto the pitch, and while some are laughing the idea off, others are livid.

There is a precedent for this. In 2010 when Rangers won the league, Celtic did not give them a guard of honour at Parkhead, and last season when the when Mark Warburton's Rangers side won the Scottish Championship, Hibernian opted against applauding their opponents onto the pitch.

There is no obligation to conduct a guard of honour, so clearly there will not be one on Saturday, but even the idea is enough to absolutely disgust many Rangers fans.
