Celtic will face Rangers for the second time in a week on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Ibrox for a league clash, their fourth and final of the 2016/17 season.
Brendan Rodgers' men won the cup semi final at Hampden Park at the weekend, and claimed wins in two of the three league games this season with the other being a draw, as well a League Cup semi-final win in October, so Rangers will be desperate to claim a win if they weren't already in order to keep up the chase on Aberdeen for second place.
Celtic wrapped up the league title last month, and have been receiving the 'guard of honour' from clubs since confirming the achievement, such as Partick Thistle:
But with a trip to Ibrox coming up this weekend, they can not expect the same show of respect from Rangers.
Scottish website TalkingBaws.com spotted Rangers fans' reaction to a rumour that circled on social media that the player would indeed be standing and applauding the Celtic players onto the pitch, and while some are laughing the idea off, others are livid.
Wid rather pierce my eyes with Stephane Mahe's toenail clippings whilst drinking Neil Lennons bath water than give them a guard of honour

Surely Rangers won't give them a guard of honour on Saturday? Would be disgraceful if we do.

Urge all Rangers fans to turn their backs on the guard of honour on Saturday
— johnnydow (@johnnydowno1) April 25, 2017
Rangers, guard of honour, Ibrox and Celtic shouldn't ever be mentioned in any sentence ever again apart from this tweet right here.

If Rangers do give Celtic a guard of honour on Saturday... then I'm afraid to say we really are dead and should be called Sevco.

As much as I think the guard of honour chat is just rumours. It should absolutely no Fucking way even be entertained by Rangers

Guard of Honour for Celtic? I'd walk out.
Fuck that.— Ibrox Loyal (@IL_Official) April 24, 2017
There is a precedent for this. In 2010 when Rangers won the league, Celtic did not give them a guard of honour at Parkhead, and last season when the when Mark Warburton's Rangers side won the Scottish Championship, Hibernian opted against applauding their opponents onto the pitch.
There is no obligation to conduct a guard of honour, so clearly there will not be one on Saturday, but even the idea is enough to absolutely disgust many Rangers fans.
