The rivalry between Celtic and Rangers is one of the biggest in world football.
There have been countless classic encounters between the pair down through the years, with the entire Scottish footballing calendar centred around their meetings each season.
Unfortunately, we have often seen some unsavoury incidents in the Old Firm derby. That not is not just consigned to the pitch, with the supporters also letting themselves down on occasion.
There was one such example this afternoon.
The two sides met at Ibrox in a game that was sure to have massive ramifications in the title race this season, with a win for the home side enough to move them level on points with their cross city rivals. However, it would be Celtic that would lead the game 2-1 at the interval after goals from Tom Rogic and Cameron Carter-Vickers cancelled out Aaron Ramsey's early opener.

As the players emerged from the tunnel for the second half, it appeared as though at least one glass bottle was thrown from the home end in the direction of Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart as he made his way towards that end of the pitch.
This was obviously a very dangerous situation for players of both sides, with the restart of he game was inevitably delayed as they attempted to remove the broken glass from the playing surface.

It is certainly not the type of incident that you want to see in the showpiece fixture in Scottish football.
Unsurprisingly, it was not well received.
Rangers fans chucked broken bottles into Joe Hart’s goal area at HT.
What if one of the players on either side or the ref, was injured by this?

The rangers fans who threw broken glass on the pitch are a disgrace to the football club and should be banned from the stadium for life

Bloody hell this is an embarrassment for Rangers. What kind of imbecile throws broken glass onto the pitch?

Not the type of thing you ever want to see at a football match.
If the glass had not been spotted before the game resumed, it had the potential to be the cause of a fairly serious incident involving the players on the pitch.
