Celtic marched yet again to another Scottish Premiership title back in April. As such they have to now ready themselves for another shot at the Champions League group stages. Of course, they'll have to get through a playoff to get there. According to the Sun, Brendan Rodgers is already eyeing up a move to bolster his defence.

The Hoops are being linked with former Barcelona and Juventus defender Martin Caceres.

It's been a rough road for the Uruguayan centre-back. After winning consecutive five Serie A titles with the Old Lady, he earned a move to the Premier League with Southampton. And has since made just one appearance for the Saints. That was in the 2-1 away victory over Middlesbrough at the end of the season.

The situation is strange. He's a Champions League winner with Barcelona. He has made appearances at two World Cups with his country. And he's won 14 major medals as a robust centre-back.

You feel it'd be a good move for both Celtic and Caceres, but the paper also notes that the Bhoys are facing some competition for his signature.

Craig Shakespeare is looking to bolster Leicester's backline, with managerless Watford also buzzing around the defender.

Rodgers led Celtic to their fifth Premiership title in a row, finishing with 106 points, alongside a League Cup victory. They face Aberdeen later in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park, looking to complete a historic domestic treble.

Adding Caceres to an already impressive team could see them hit even higher targets next season.
