Patrick Roberts has enjoyed a successful spell at Celtic Park over the last two and a half seasons. Over 78 games at the club the 21-year-old has scored 19 goals and assisted 26. But today's clash between Celtic and Aberdeen may well be his last for the Hoops, as the winger, on loan from Manchester City, has made it known in an interview with Sky Sports that he sees his future elsewhere:
I've enjoyed my football [with Celtic] and everyone knows that. But you also have to look at the bigger picture and I have certain ambitions in my head and places that I want to be.
To get there I need to come out of my comfort zone and try to reach those targets, but playing for Celtic has been a dream come true and I've enjoyed every minute.
Roberts was pressed on whether he would like to play in the Premier League next season, with the London born player admitting that playing in England's top flight is one of his ambitions:
Hopefully, that's the main aim. Being an English player and having come through the system in the Premier League [the ambition] is to play for a top club in the Premier League.
Celtic supporters have been tweeting about the midfielder online, mostly thanking him for his contribution during his tenure at the club:
Are folk actually criticising Patrick Roberts? The guys been here long enough, wish him well in his career

Deek thinks that Roberts may have an ulterior motive for leaving the SPL:
Patrick Roberts is scared of Stevie G

i am at an age when a lot of young people (particularly footballers) can come across as wee fannys
Patrick Roberts however seems a genuinely likeable and thoughtful young man

Roberts has had his last season at the club blighted by injury but the former Fulham youngster still played a role in Celtic's title defence, managing four assists and one goal across 10 appearances this season.
