While RTÉ's matchday coverage is rarely Roy Keane-esque, Alan Cawley channelled his inner Keano today, taking issue with the hype around Memphis Depay and calling out his fashion antics.
Depay's attitude has been the talk of pundits and fans alike over the last week, as the Former Manchester United star's attitude to flashy goods came in for criticism from former teammate Wayne Rooney.
While there's not been any major upsets in the opening games of Euro 2024, Depay's custom made headband has certainly caused a stir, with the RTÉ crew chiming in on the debate today.

Despite all the talk, Depay is just five goals away from being the Netherlands' all-time goal scorer and started his side's 2-1 victory over Poland today, having also played a significant role in their 4-0 win over Iceland in a friendly on Monday.
Speaking about his appearance after that game, Depay was quick to bite back telling reporters that 'his girlfriend loves it'.
Those comments evidently did not go down too well with RTÉ analyst Alan Cawley. After Depay put in a middling performance against Poland on Sunday, Cawley slated the Dutchman's new attire, as well as taking a dig at the ups and downs of his career.
Well once she's happy...he struggled all day Tony, I think you can only get away with the yellow and pink boots when you're scoring the winner and hairbands and headbands and all sorts. I think we summed up what he is, he's the second level below.....Get rid of the stupid hairband.
I don't think we hold Depay to the highest standard, he's a notch below that if you like Tony. He's a good player but lets not get carried away...he went to United, was only filling a void, he's done okay.
Well I'm not happy with him, he shouldn't be wearing that silly hairband.
Cawley's obliteration of Memphis Depay's fashion sense came after the Netherlands' 2-1 win over Poland today. While Poland struck first with a 16th-minute goal, it was the Netherlands who pushed on with Gakpo levelling the score fifteen minutes later, before Weghorst bagged an 83rd-minute winner.

Despite a late surge from the Polish, the Dutch did well to hold on - earning themselves their first win of the tournament.
