After having a glistening career including winning 5 Champions Leagues with Real Madrid, the general consensus is that Casemiro is deserving of a career swansong that reflects his achievements in the game.
Instead, the Brazilian has been an ever-present in Erik Ten Haag's midfield. This was until Liverpool came to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
It resulted in a 3-0 victory for the Merseyside club over their rivals and a match 32-year-old Casemiro will not want to look back on. He did not return to the field after the half-time interval, replaced by 20-year-old Toby Collyer.
Having offered up numerous chances to Liverpool in the first half with poor passing, rash tackling and questionable decision-making it was no surprise to see him replaced at the break.
United's fortunes failed to improve however, and they conceded the third and final goal shortly after the break in a day to forget for the Red Devils with Mo Salah scoring in his seventh consecutive appearance at Old Trafford. It's an incredible record for the Egyptian.

Casemiro's Wife Claps Back After Carragher Plea
Speaking on Sky's coverage of the game, Jamie Carragher pleaded with the Brazilian to question possible retirement from the game after a torrid first half for the midfielder. The former Liverpool man previously indicated his time on the pitch may be coming to an end:
Leave the football before the football leaves you
He's had such a great career and won everything you can possibly win, and it is a sad sight seeing what he's going through out there.
During the first 45, a misplaced pass from the midfielder leading to two goals was summed up by Carragher:
Oh my god, two Casemiro mistakes, two Diaz goals
A poor pass can happen any time, but the second one, getting knocked over, he looks shattered as he's falling over
But the former Real Madrid midfielder's wife was quick to respond and she took to Instagram last night to show off his array of trophies.
Afterwards manager Ten Hag insisted Casemiro can remain an important player for United going forward:
I think that in football everyone has to take responsibility. I’m sure he is a great character and he won everything in his career that you can imagine. I am sure he will keep contributing to our team and Casemiro is always winning so he will be there.
It was no surprise to see United strengthen in the midfield area during the transfer window and the signing of Manuel Ugarte should relieve some of the pressure on Casemiro's shoulders.
