For a player of his ability, Callum Robinson probably should score more goals. Despite being an excellent finisher, the Ireland international can go through patchy stages over the course of a season.

Prior to that last night's game against Birmingham City, he had scored four goals in the Championship this season and gone eight league appearances without finding the back of the net for Cardiff City.

However, he brought that scoreless streak to an end at St Andrew's.

With Cardiff leading by a goal late on in the game, the 28-year old scored a brilliant strike to put wrap up the three points.

The win moved the club three points clear of the relegation zone.

Cardiff City fans loved Callum Robinson celebration

Of course, Callum Robinson would not be the biggest fan of Birmingham City. A product of the Aston Villa academy, he would have taken quite a bit of pleasure from scoring against the club's local rivals.

After celebrating his strike last night, he made sure to wave at the home crowd as they left the stadium in droves as they were condemned to defeat.

Very cheeky.

The player himself had a simple explanation for the gesture.

While Robinson has found it difficult to score this season in a struggling side, he seems to have quite the affinity with the Cardiff City fans.

A nice gesture.

Quite a few of their supporters took to social media to praise the striker in the aftermath of last night's game.

Callum Robinson will be hoping that this result can act as a catalyst for Cardiff City in the weeks ahead as they seek to play their way out of relegation trouble.

It has been two decades since the club played in the third tier of English football, having never dropped below the Championship since being promoted to the division in 2003.
