We mentioned before the African Cup of Nations kicked off how much we loved the names in the Cape Verde squad. We loved this finish by Platini to keep Cape Verde in the running for qualification from the group stages. That's a fair bit of coverage for a small nation in a competition that isn't a priority for Irish football fans. Maybe you think we're going over the top, but this video clip is glorious. Shortly after Cape Verde came from a goal down to beat Angola 2-1 to qualify for the group stages, their manager (a full time air traffic controller!) was attending the mandatory post match press conference. In burst the squad and treated the world to something rarely seen in football; players and management united in national pride and simply enjoying their success.
Can't wait for the scenes when they win their quarter final with Ghana on Saturday.
