Fecafoot, the Cameroon football authority, are investigating claims that players were involved in match-fixing during the country's dreadful World Cup campaign, and will be looking into the manner of 4-0 defeat to Croatia in particular. Last night they posted a statement on their Facebook page, saying:
We wish to inform the general public that, though not yet contacted by FIFA in regards to this affair, our admnistration has already instructed its Ethics Committe, to further investigate these accusations.
The investigation come in the wake of convicted fraudster Wilson Raj Perumal correctly predicting the 4-0 result against and Croatia and that a player would be sent off in the first half, when speaking to German magazine Der Spiegel.
Fectafoot also said:
Recent allegations of fraud around Cameroon 2014 FIFA World Cup three preliminary games, especially Cameroon vs. Croatia, as well of "the existence of seven bad apples" in our national team, do not reflect the values and principles promoted by our administration, in line with FIFA Code of Conduct and the ethics of our nation.
They added that they will resolve the matter in the shortest time possible.
