The Callum O'Dowda contract saga at Bristol City is at an end as the Republic of Ireland international signed a new three-year deal with the club.
The 24-year-old had been linked with a host of clubs including Leeds United and Nottingham Forest. It prompted manager Lee Johnson to publicly explain O'Dowda's 'head would have been turned by the speculation'.
Yet the situation has ended positively as O'Dowda told the club website he is happy to commit his long-term future.
I’m delighted to have this new contract and I’m really excited about the ambition of the club and the future.
I’m determined to carry on giving my all and contributing to what we are striving for, which is taking Bristol City into the Premier League.
Johnson added: "Callum is an important member of the squad and it’s great news for his team-mates, staff and the supporters that he will be here for at least the next three seasons."
The club even took the opportunity to joke online about the long-awaited end to the saga.
