If BT Sport are the Man City of football broadcasting, then Gary Lineker is their Robinho. Okay that may be a bad comparison but it's somewhat apt. The upstarts to Sky's behemoths are launching their Champions League coverage next week and they'll have a big signing to announce. The housewives favourite, Gary Lineker himself, is going to be the face of the new production.
Don't worry, Lineker will still be bringing you Match of the Day on BBC but that's not the only place you'll be seeing him over the next few years.
The former England striker has signed a new two year contract with UK state broadcaster, however, he has taken a pay-cut to ensure that his new contract is non-exclusive, thus freeing him up to work elsewhere.
According to the Telegraph, BT Sport have jumped at the chance to sign Lineker and he will take centre stage on their Champions League coverage alongside Jake Humphrey and Rio Ferdinand.
