It seemed as though silverware was inevitable for Harry Kane when he completed his blockbuster move to Bayern Munich last summer but things have not panned out as expected for the Englishman.
Having won every Bundesliga since Jurgen Klopp's Borussia Dortmund claimed the title in 2011-12, Bayern seemed shoe-ins for the crown this year.
Instead, Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen are now in pole position, especially after a decisive 3-0 victory over Bayern in a crunch match on Saturday.
Bayern followed that up with a shock 1-0 defeat away to Lazio in the Champions League on Wednesday night, leaving Kane at risk of yet another trophyless season - many of which he endured at Tottenham.
Kane may be exasperated by the failings of the team around him but ex-Ireland manager Brian Kerr had little sympathy for the striker after Wednesday's European defeat.

Brian Kerr rips into Harry Kane after Bayern lose to Lazio
Bayern failed to muster a single shot on target in their tight defeat to Lazio, despite the plethora of attacking talent at their disposal.

In his post-match interview, Kane was surprisingly calm, saying that Bayern had plenty of time to close in on Leverkusen domestically, and had home advantage for the second leg against Lazio.
Though both statements are true, and Bayern have pulled off greater miracles before, their recent form does not suggest that will happen on this occasion.
Discussing Bayern's defeat on Virgin Media, Brian Kerr was unimpressed with Kane's post-match attitude:
His interview was very upbeat for a fella who had such a poor game and must have been disappointed - both tonight and Saturday.
He must be thinking, 'I thought we were going to be winning matches and strolling through lesser teams?'
He's in a bit of a drought. Obviously, he's going to get a bit of flak, they've spent all the money and he's not scoring. He was quite upbeat in his interview, but that doesn't affect how the game is going to be.
It's nearly like, 'ah, it'll be okay, we'll sort it out in the second game.' If they play like they did tonight, they won't.
He's probably not feeling the responsibility because he's the last one in, he has no influence on the players who the manager picks and plays. It wasn't an inspirational performance from him for the rest of the players.
Neither did anyone else cover themselves in glory anyway.
It's hard to argue with Kerr's remarks, with Bayern Munich now finding themselves in serious danger of ending a season empty-handed for the first time in 11 years.
The manner of their defeat in Rome, having dominated the ball without creating any chances of note, will have been especially concerning to manager Thomas Tuchel.
Though Harry Kane has notched up a remarkable 24 goals in 21 Bundesliga appearances, the goals have dried up of late. The ex-Spurs man now has only two goals in his last six appearances, at a crucial stage of the season for Bayern.
The 30-year-old is somehow yet to win a trophy in his career and, if the banker bet of joining Bayern fails to deliver silverware this season, one will begin to wonder what Kane needs to do to get himself on a winning team.
