We've moaned many times before about how you typically don't see Irish players playing around Europe anymore like we did before the Premier League became the be-all and end-all, but the same can be said for Irish managers too.

While we enjoying keeping up with the likes of Cillian Sheridan or even Jack Byrne when he went on loan to Cambuur in Holland, for whatever reason European clubs don't seem to have much interest in pursuing Irish players anymore, and an Irish manager taking a job is just as rare these days.

We could have, however, been left very upset when Brian Kerr was managing the Irish national team, as Greek giants Olympiakos came sniffing and tried to poach him from the FAI, as Kerr revealed while speaking on Premier League Live on Today FM.

Now that would have been something.

Sadly for Kerr, things went south rather quickly with Ireland and he was replaced in a manner that many fans and pundits agree was very harsh, but he was never going to leave his post in the middle of a qualification campaign, regardless of the weather or money on offer.

Still, it would have seen the club renamed 'Brian Kerr's Olympiakos' on these shore and no doubt would have raised the profile of Greek football in the country indefinately.
