Dundalk fell 2-1 to Zenit St.Petersburg on Thursday night, putting in an outstanding effort while doing so.
Despite taking the lead through a Robbie Benson strike, Zenit pulled level and then took the lead in a disaster 10 minutes that ultimately turned the game.
The fans cheered Dundalk off the pitch at the full-time whistle, but Brian Kerr suggested that the excellent performance will be little consolation to Stephen Kenny's men. He then gave the viewers on Eir Sport a piece of his mind regarding Dundalk's extremely tough fixture congestion, suggesting that the FAI should have done more to help them out.
Top stuff.
Above all else, the fact that Brian Kerr cares deeply about the League of Ireland shines through. Dundalk will face the arduous task of contesting the FAI Cup Final against Cork City just three days after an away match in Zenit... It's asking a lot, to say the least.
Many will share Kerr's view, and the question as to why this man is on TV and not involved in the Irish football setup will again rear it's head. Justifiably.
