Cork man Brian Barry-Murphy has joined the coaching ranks at Premier League side Leicester City.
The news was broken by Dylan O'Connell of the Cork Echo late on Monday night, with Barry-Murphy set to start work with the Foxes immediately.
It is the latest step in an impressive progression through the ranks for the son of Cork hurling icon Jimmy, and will see him link up with former Manchester United star and interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Cork's Brian Barry-Murphy signs on as Leicester assistant coach
Brian Barry-Murphy enters the Leicester assistant's job after a highly successful three-year spell with the Manchester City Elite Development Squad.
The 46-year-old Corkonian twice won the Premier League 2 title as manager of the City EDS, with several big names coming through the academy system during his tenure.
He stepped aside this summer after guiding City to the FA Youth Cup last season, and his next job will see him step up to senior level in the Premier League.
Ruud van Nistelrooy spent four games as interim Manchester United manager earlier this year and, after beating Leicester in two of those games, was appointed as the Foxes' permanent boss after the sacking of Steve Cooper.
The Dutchman has a massive task on his hands if he is to keep Leicester in the Premier League, with the 2016 champions just outside the relegation on their return to the top flight. They currently sit 17th in the table just two points ahead of struggling Wolves.
There will be a baptism of fire for Barry-Murphy, as Leicester travel to Anfield on St. Stephen's Day to kick off their festive period of football.
Brian Barry-Murphy's father Jimmy will need no introduction for Irish sports fans, having won six All-Ireland titles during a superb dual football and hurling career in the colours of Cork.
Barry-Murphy Sr has regularly been named by Roy Keane as one of his all-time favourite athletes and is widely held as one of the finest hurlers of all-time.
Meanwhile, Barry-Murphy Jr continues his climb up the coaching ranks. His first Premier League role will undoubtedly be his biggest test yet.
