Doncaster's 1-0 win over Brentford provided one of the most thrilling climaxes to a season that you will ever see.
Both teams went into the game knowing that they could gain automatic promotion to the Championship on the day. The game was tied at 0-0 in the 94th minute, which would have meant promotion for Doncaster, when referee, Michael Oliver, awarded Brentford a penalty. If they scored then they would almost certainly have been promoted. Marcello Trotta stepped up to take the kick but smashed it against the crossbar.
Doncaster quickly counter-attacked through Billy Paynter who broke clear down the right-hand side and laid the ball on a plate for James Coppinger to slot home and make his team League One champions. Just moments before hand it looked like they would have had to face the playoffs.
Instead, Brentford will have to play Swindon in the first leg of the playoffs on Saturday.
