Jurgen Klopp may be the man on Liverpool fans' minds but it seems the powers that be at Anfield are keeping their options open if/when they decide time is up for Brendan Rodgers.
Reports in England and Italy are suggesting that Liverpool have sent out some feelers in the direction of Carlo Ancelotti to find out if he would be keen on taking over from the former Swansea boss. While the contact with the Italian is being reported as something of 'just in case' exercise, it's certainly not a mark of confidence for Rodgers.
The Daily Mail are reporting that Antrim man retains the backing of 'some' of the Liverpool board but that the contact with Ancelotti is real and Saturday's clash at home to Aston Villa could be key.
Ancelotti was given the inevitable boot by Real Madrid this summer after failing to retain the Champions League. However, Liverpool fans would certainly be keen to see how Ancelotti would fare back in the Premier League after doing a rather decent job with Chelsea between 2009 and 2011.
