While there may already be a few Irish players in the Celtic first team squad, that number could grow this summer depending on the club's transfer business over the coming weeks.

The likes of Liam Scales, Mikey Johnston, and Bosun Lawal are all part of Celtic's pre-season preparations, although it remains to be seen if all three will still be in Glasgow come the start of the campaign. Both Johnston and Lawal have been linked with moves away in recent times.

In saying that, there could also be some Irish incomings.

Adam Idah has been heavily linked with a move to Parkhead, with the club reportedly keen to turn his temporary switch from last season into a permanent one. While Norwich City have yet to accept a bid for the striker, it has been suggested that Celtic are confident of getting the deal over the line.

If Brendan Rodgers has his way, he would not be the only Irishman that signs for the club over the coming weeks.

Brendan Rodgers Desperate To Bring Irish Defender To Celtic

Mail Sport are reporting that Brendan Rodgers is very keen on signing Burnley defender Dara O'Shea this summer, reiterating his stance on the player during a recent meeting with Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson and finance director Chris McKay.

O'Shea only signed for Burnley in the summer of 2023, arriving at Turf Moor for a fee of around £6.5million after their promotion to the Premier League. The Irishman put in some excellent performances in the English top flight despite his team's struggles.

It remains to be seen if Burnley would be open to selling the defender, although they would likely look to turn a profit on the fee they paid for him just 12 months ago. Such an asking price would certainly test the limits of Celtic's spending power.

Now 25-years old, Dara O'Shea has bounced back brilliantly from the serious injury he suffered while playing for Ireland against Portugal back in 2021, going from strength to strength after his return.

You can certainly see why Celtic would be interested in his services, although it remains to be seen if they can get a deal over the line.
