One of the outstanding full-backs of his day, the last you will have heard of Patrice Evra, things were not going so well.
Having signed for Marseille after a successful spell with Juventus in Serie A, the former Manchester United man was most recently seen kicking out at a Marseille fan.
Suspended indefinitely, Evra's spell with the Ligue 1 club ended shortly thereafter. Receiving a European ban from UEFA, the French full-back will be ineligible for European competition until the beginning of next season.
Despite being 36-years-old, Evra is keen to keep going however, and, it would seem that one Premier League club is set to take a chance.
Looking to add to their collection of players who appeared in their pomp for Manchester club five to seven years ago, West Ham United have decided to recruit the free agent.

Understood to be joining the club on a short-term deal until the end of the season, the decision is having a mixed response amongst West Ham fans.
Patrice Evra is 38 - We could of done with him TEN YEARS AGO 😂⚒

With Aaron Creswell and Masuaku in the team why do West Ham wanna sign Patrice Evra? 🤔

Evra of course had a brief spell with West Ham's current manager David Moyes.
Part of the old guard that didn't seem to respond to life at Manchester United under Alex Ferguson's first successor, the French full-back was a fine performer under Moyes all the same.
What role he will play with West Ham remains unclear. Boasting a number of players in the left-back position, Evra is no longer the player he even was under Moyes at United.
Perhaps a positive character that will ensure West Ham stay clear of the relegation zone, he is sure to be an interesting acquisition if nothing else.
