The Telegraph have released footage of a Championship assistant manager accepting a £5,000 cash bung from the same 'third party organisation' that landed Sam Allardyce in the brown in recent days.
Barnsley assistant boss Tommy Wright accepted a bundle of £20 notes in a brown envelope at a meeting in Leeds last month.
In return, Wright agreed to help the agent recruit Barnsley players, and said he would recommend that Barnsley sign other players represented by the consortium. Wright also agreed to look out for players at other clubs who this group could approach.
Wright was suspended by Barnsley last night when The Telegraph informed the club of what had happened, but denies any wrongdoing.
Meanwhile, QPR manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was filmed agreeing to represent the same firm by flying to the Far East to talk to investors - for £55,000 a pop, no less. Jesus, Jimmy - not you as well!
The Telegraph write of Hasselbaink:
"He appeared open to the idea of signing players owned by the firm, despite the possibility of a conflict of interest. He told undercover reporters posing as representatives of the company: “Give me a ----ing player. A good player.”
Hasselbaink also denies any improper conduct, as presumably will Leeds United chairman Massimo Cellino.
The Italian held a meeting with the undercover reporters and, worse than Sam Allardyce before him, discussed a way that Leeds could get around FA rules on third-party ownership of players.
Shit has hit the fan in a major way. All three videos, recorded unbeknown to their subjects, are available to watch on The Telegraph.
