Donal Conway is set to step down as President of the FAI in January, 2020.

The news comes on the same day that the FAI are due to publish accounts for 2018. Conway will step down at an EGM to be held on the 25th January 2019. There a successor will also be appointed.

Any person who is a serving member of Council and who has been a member of Council for two years, which service need not have been consecutive, is eligible to be elected as President of the FAI.

Later today, the FAI will publish the accounts for 2018 along with the revised 2017 and restated 2016 accounts. It is expected that details of the severance payment to John Delaney will be included in the 2018 accounts.

It has been a tough week for the FAI. On Wednesday, Three Ireland opted against continuing its sponsorship of the Football Association of Ireland.

Paul Cooke, who was appointed executive lead of the association earlier this week, has already said the latest accounts with shock people.
