Arsenal have confirmed that head coach Unai Emery and his coaching team have left the club with immediate effect.
It comes after a run of bad form that has the club without a win in seven games. On Thursday night, they fell to a 2-1 Europa League loss against Eintracht Frankfurt in front of a meagre Emirates Stadium crowd.
Speaking on behalf of the Arsenal board and our owners Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, Josh Kroenke thanked Emery for his efforts.
Our most sincere thanks go to Unai and his colleagues who were unrelenting in their efforts to get the club back to competing at the level we all expect and demand. We wish Unai and his team nothing but future success.
Freddie Ljungberg will take responsibility for the first team as interim head coach. The club will start their search for a successor with Nuno Espírito Santo, Mikel Arteta and Mauricio Pochettino all contenders.
